Trading in EU2
There are 3 different methods to do business: The NPC trader, direct trade between players and the auction/sale.
NPC-Trader
The NPC (non-player character) trade in EU2 is done automatically as soon as import/export are activated in the trading post. Dependent on your resource-production the NPC trades with any player that's buying or selling.
The more resources you produce on this planet, the more infrequently the NPC will appear. Whereas trading at the beginning of the game is done every couple of hours, the more the game progresses the greater the visiting-interval of the NPC becomes.
Trade with other players
Trading with other players is not that different from trading with the NPC. As soon as you have goods in import/export and activate "Trade with players" other players in communication center-range (at least level 2) will be able to search traders. By choosing the special order "Trade" the respective planet is approached by a transportship (at least Cargo S). On arrival clicking "Trade" starts the trade and resources can be exchanged analogical to loading and unloading a vessel. Trading is basically done with credits which are transferred automatically upon transacting the goods.
Auction
It is possible to buy or sell resources, components, researcher and commanders by auction.
to bid:
You can participate on auctions in the trading post from level 1 upwards. The system works like ebay. You enter a maximal offer, that you are willing to pay - this offer has to beat the actual highest bid by one credit. If you offered less than the highest bidder, the (now) highest bid exceeds your offer by one credit. If your bid exceeded the highest bid the new highest bid is raised to 1 credit above the offer of the previous highest bidder.
You never pay more than inevitable. For resources and components the cost of transportation will be calculated. Researcher and commander get a free passage.
Selling at auction:
- Resources: In trading post -> export tab -> After every resource name is a link called auction. Once clicked it will start a new auction. The lowest bid, the amount, the auction-duration (1, 3 and 5 days), the maximal distance to the customer in pc (calculated by consumption of your fleet for outward and return flight) and the transportation costs per pc have to be entered. The minimum amount of resources to sell at auction is 10.000.
- Components: Can be selected for disposal (auction) in bunker (level 3+).
- Researcher: Can be sold in the university. To sell an researcher you have to select him and click on sale. Enter a lowest bid and the duration of the auction to start the auction. After the auction has expired the researcher is automatically being transferred free of charge to the customer.
- Commanders: Can be sold in fleet -> commanders. Select the commander and act accordingly to selling researcher.
Cost of transportation and delivery:
To calculate your own transportation costs you have to add up all consumption values of your fleet engines and multiply those by 200 units hydrogen (outward and return flight). For a designated price of 100 credits per 100 units hydrogen arise transportation costs of 300 credits per pc for a transporter with a DX-1 engine.
Past termination of an auction you receive a message, where and to whom to deliver. You have 48 hours to deliver. To complete the delivery just unload the appropriate ammount in fleetmenu -> cargo. Validation of the delivery and transferal of the credits take a few minutes - so please be patient. If you don't meet the delivery deadline you pay a fine that's 50% of the last offer.
Taxes
Where there's trade - there are taxes. But at present taxes are only activated on auctions. Taxes are always accounted for the Seller (exempt NPC-trade). The tax rate is 25%. The tax rate can be lowered by the trading skill points of your commanders. Every point in trading reduces the tax rate by 0,5%. On delivery or trade with a fleet the trading skill points of the commander on the main planet are tax-relevant as they are during trade on your own planet or selling researcher and commanders by auction.
Annotation: The titles Trader, Wholesaler and Intergalactic trader only take influence on the fuel consumption during flight. The reduced consumption is valid for one's own fleets.
